The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights
Synopsis: T is the new summer hire at Cafarelli & Sons, an iconic New York butcher, but life in afreezing cut room is far from glamorous. No-nonsense boss Paula is fighting to keep her business alive; Apprentices JD and Billy find themselves pitted against each other as her number two David watches on. How far will they go to survive? TheMeat Kings! (Inc.) carves into the dark underbelly of America’s anti-immigrationpolicies and the brutal sacrifices people make in the pursuit of prosperity.
This searing debut play won the 2024 Papatango Prize. Premiere production currently running at the Park Theatre (London) through November 29.

Set/Costume Requirements:
Set: “The windowless back cut room of the butchers. White subway tile goes halfway up the walls, some with small blood splatters. Steel workstations line the walls, with another centre like an island. Large white cut-boards on top and cupboards or open storage underneath. Back wall: carts and tray racks, and a large steel sink. Upstage: metal meat hooks hang from a ceiling rail, half a pig carcass slung up on one. Stage right: a coat rack and bag storage, whites and aprons rack, and swing doors leading to the store and the office offstage right. Stage left: more cupboard and worktop space, and swing doors which lead to: Offstage left, unseen, a grinder, a bandsaw, and other equipment, and the walk-in chiller.”
Costumes: They all wear white jackets and red aprons, and store- branded caps or beanies. Each character wears their own clothes underneath. Boots, preferably steel-capped. As many tattoos as you like.

Bio: Hannah is a British-Irish playwright and screenwriter. Her debut play The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights won the 2024 Papatango Prize and received its world premiere production at London’s Park Theatre in 2025. She was selected for the National MFA Playwrights’ Festival in 2017 with her short play A Last Night on Earth, which was produced by Theater Masters in Aspen, Colorado, and subsequently Off-Off-Broadway at Theater for the New City. Hannah received her MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2018. Based in London, Hannah is a bookseller and a member of the National Theatre’s script reading team.
