Synopsis: Set in Tudor Essex, across the summer of 1536, Anna, Mariella and Jane fight over gossip, marriage offers and how bad Jane’s hair is. When the news from London of the Queen’s arrest at the hands of her husband reaches them, they all begin to wrestle with what it means to survive in a society that keeps changing the definition of what a good woman is and the friendship splinters apart.

Cast Breakdown: 3 Women, 2 Men

Set/Costume Requirements: Set in an Essex Field with a huge tree, the play tracks through the days of the summer. Elemental and dirty, these are not women of the court, they rarely change clothes, except Jane who has more money. A pregnancy bump and blood are needed. Potentially needs a revolve? Depending on the stylisation of the directing style.

Agent: Amanda Davis at Curtis Brown. Larry Salz and Julien Thuan at UTA
