Synopsis: Act 1. Brighton 1862.  Sarah, an African girl, adopted by Queen Victoria and raised in the Queen’s circles is about to return to Africa. Will she go? Act 2. The present day. Cheshire. Sarah, her husband and small child are paid a visit by well-meaning neighbours who have something to confess.  Act 3. The two Sarahs meet Queen Victoria for tea, what will they discuss?

Bio: Janice Okoh is a multi award-winning playwright.

Work includes: Egusi Soup (Soho Theatre, Menagerie Theatre, Colchester Theatre, Theatre Royal Bury St Edmonds), which was produced in 2012 and again in 2014. On both occasions the play toured nationally.  Three Birds (Bush Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange) won The Bruntwood Prize in 2011 and was produced in 2013.  The Gift (Coventry Belgrade Theatre, Eclipse Theatre) was produced in 2020 and toured nationally. Janice has been shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon Award and The Verity Bargate Award and has been the recipient of a Channel Four Playwriting Bursary. She has accepted residences at The National Theatre, The McDowell Colony and The Bogliasco Foundation and is an alumna of The Sphinx 30 Writers Lab, the Royal Court Writers' Groups and the Arvon/Jerwood Mentoring Scheme for Playwrights.  Janice is an accomplished radio dramatist and won the Most Outstanding Achievement Award at the BBC Audio Drama Awards (2019) for her part in the adaptation of all six of Maya Angelou’s biographies and the award for Best Drama Production at the BBC Radio and Music Awards (2020) for her original drama Red Earth, Red Sky. Current work includes an adaptation of Benjamin Myers novel The Offing for Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.
