Play: The Trials
Synopsis: “You have stolen my childhood… with your empty words.” Greta Thunberg.
A radical green government is in power, trying to stop runaway climate change and manage scarce resources in this near future world. The older generation are judged for crimes against the climate in a series of public trials. A young jury of 12 – 17 year olds struggle with their responsibility; the fates of three adult defendants are in their hands. Can they deliver justice, or are they serving revenge?

Bio: Dawn is an award-winning writer working in theatre, film, TV, VR and radio. Her new play The Trials will receive a German premiere at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 2021. She is currently writing The Trees, a radical reinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard, for director Katie Mitchell at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and Addictive Beat, a play for Boundless Theatre, UK. She is also working on the feature film The Donor for Delaval Films and the BFI and adapting her play Foxfinder for the screen with Elation Pictures and the BFI.
Dawn’s previous work for the stage includes; Foxfinder, originally produced by Papatango Theatre Company at The Finborough in 2011 and revived in a West End production at The Ambassadors in 2018; Brave New World, Ciphers, and Salt. She also co-created immersive dystopian rave DYSTOPIA987 for Manchester International Festival 2019 (a collaboration with Skepta.)
For Foxfinder, Dawn won the Royal National Theatre Foundation Playwright Award 2013, Papatango New Writing Competition 2011 and Most Promising Playwright, Off West End awards 2012. She was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize 2012 and the James Tait Black drama prize 2012. Dawn’s short film The Karman Line won 17 awards including the BIFA for Best Short and was BAFTA nominated in 2014.
