Synopsis: Bobbie and Hench are home alone, playing PlayStation, streaming porn, watching the world go by. Sometimes their mum Maggie visits, usually with empty pockets and empty promises. Then Jenny shows up. Yen explores a childhood lived without boundaries and the consequences of being forced to grow up on your own.

Cast Breakdown: Main: Hench Male 16yr, Bobbie Male 13 yr, Jenny Female 16yr, Maggie Female 35 yr.

Set/Costume Requirements: Dependant on production. Three internal locations with scarce furniture needed (Sofa bed, chairs). One external location. Yen has a dog which is never seen but is heard frequently.

Bio: Anna is an award winning playwright and director. Writing includes Yen (Royal Court Theatre / Royal Exchange Theatre / GEST Sweden), Chicken Shop (Park Theatre London), The Freedom Light (Company of Angels). Writing / Directing includes Freak (Assembly Studios / Theatre503), Stay Happy Keep Smiling (Soho Theatre), Bender (Old Red Lion), Fragments(Riverside Studios). Directing includes Tomorrow I’ll Be Happy (NT Shed / Soho / Lost Theatre), Vote of No Confidence (Theatre503), Only Human (Theatre503). Awards include the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting 2013 for Yen, Best Fringe Production for Chicken Shop at Park Theatre (West End Frame Awards), Overall Winner / Audience Choice Award for Closer To God (Off Cut Festival) and Best New Writing for Just For Fun - Totally Random (Lost One Act Festival). Her plays are also performed internationally with productions of her plays in Germany, Sweden and the USA. Anna is Artistic Director of Without a Paddle Theatre (WAP) and Associate Director at Theatre503.
Yen won the Bruntwood Prize 2013. It had a production at The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester in January 2015 and the same production has just transferred to the Royal Court Theatre, London. There was a production at Gothenburg English Studio Theatre in November 2015 and there are plans for a French language production in Montreal.
