Synopsis: Sarah Siddons, the leading actress of the eighteenth century theatre and the first celebrity had to manage her image scrupulously by hiding her ambition and playing only tragedy and wounded mothers. As the artist in her demands more she threatens to destabilise the fragile balance she has maintained over her public and her image.
