 Paule Constable

Is an associate director of the National Theatre and has designed productions for all the major UK companies including Warhorse (NT and worldwide) and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night.  Recent productions include The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Follies and The Normal Heart for the National Theatre.  She has received 5 Olivier awards, 2 Tony Awards, the Helpmann Award, the Rayne Award and numerous Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Knight of Illumination awards.  In 2019 she was awarded the London Critics Circle Special Award for her contribution to the British Theatre Industry.

 

Her opera designs have been seen all over the world and include Giulio Cesare and Billy Budd at Glyndebourne; Medea at ENO and Ariodante for Vienna Stadtsoper plus Satyagraha at the Metropolitan Opera.  She is an associate of Matthew Bourne’s company and designed Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Red Shoes, Dorian Gray and Play Without Words for him.

 

Paule is a Royal Designer for Industry
